I discovered sakamoto randomly on youtube years ago off thousand knives and it was weird.. I listened before to a lot of music in the 70s, 80s and so on but never anything like knives before, its striking implosion into electronic sounds without losing a shred of humanity. Often writers of the time would talk about how illegitimate many of the techniques he used were but it was clearly birthed out of him. This was his sound, anything else would be disturbing. He then went of to have the greatest musical career ever collaborating across ages, notoriety and worlds. He went around unearthing new ideas wherever he went. I really liked a project where he worked with younger fans of music to release a joint album, I used one of their tracks here. He was definitely my biggest influence, but I've failed him because I do push myself outside my comfort zone but I dont push myself into anyone elses. Ego is art is social. I spent so much time trying to work on technical ability and this album is the culmination. I thought after this I thought I'd be done, but I think I've gone down the wrong path. Maybe. Ryuchi released his first album at 26 and I'm only 21. RIP Sakamoto
